The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced from 1994 to 2025 by the German car manufacturer Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. The A4 has been built in five generations and is based on the Volkswagen Group B platform. The first generation A4 succeeded the Audi 80.
The Audi A4 was the first model in the Volkswagen Group to feature the new 1.8-litre 20v engine with five valves per cylinder, based on the unit Audi Sport had developed for their Supertouring race car. A turbocharged 1.8T version produced 150 PS.
The very first Audi, the Audi Type A Sport-Phaeton, was manufactured in the German city of Zwickau in 1910. Audi was initially founded by August Horch, who came up with the name for Audi by translating his name into Latin, which means “listen”. The Audi logo’s four rings symbolise the four previously independent motor companies – Audi, DWK, Horch and Wanderer – that merged in 1932, to create what is now known as Audi AG.

For me Audi have once again surpassed their over priced competitors with an amazing motor. I have only ever driven saloon cars out of necessity but this car is actually enjoyable to drive and handles so well.
