The Fiat Panda is a city car manufactured and marketed by Fiat, now in its third generation. The first generation Panda, introduced in 1980, was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani.
The second generation Panda debuted in 2003, with almost no direct engineering linkage to the first generation. In its development phase, the Panda was intended to be called "Gingo", but Renault objected because it sounded too close to their Twingo.
In 37 years Panda production has reached over 7.5 million, of those, approximately 4.5 million were the first generation.
Fiat’s story begins in 1900 when Italian entrepreneur Giovanni Agnelli opened the first Fiat factory in Turin, Italy. Agnelli founded the car company with a group of local investors, calling their newest venture: Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT), or Italian Automobile Factory of Turin. Their first factory was quite small, employing only 150 people on a daily basis. But the tiny automaker proved successful in its home country, which cleared the way for Agnelli to establish the first Fiat factory in the U.S. in 1908.

Practicality - Lots of headroom, front and rear, 5 doors make it easy to get in and out of the back seats, excellent visibility all round. Reliability - Never had any problems, car been in the family from almost new, now done 50,000 miles with no repairs having been required. Running costs - Good fuel economy, low tax, cheap to insure, as mentioned above no repair bills. How it drives - Steering is light, excellent for use in cities/car parks, also feels nice on the open road. — David Moye, Thanet
I bought this car to be as cheap to run as possible. It does exactly what it says on the tin! The build quality is fantastic for a car in this price bracket and the standard extras are all you need. The best thing about the Panda is its economy, I regularly achieve 55 mpg no matter how I drive it and have achieved over 70 mpg on a long run. All in all i think its a great little car. — John Yeoman, Somerset
Love my Fiat Panda, very ruggedly built, simple mechanics, no stupid sensors. Parts are incredibly cheap, road tax low and 70 mpg are what dreams are made of! The best value for money in a car ever. Can't recommend this car enough. — Rose McCorley, Guildford
